Don't hide under your duvet, face reality - Telegraph.co.uk

Rather than of fresh enthusiasm for the new working year, the start of 2009 hasAs a ruleprompted an almost national desire for what Americans call a "duvet day": you're not ill, there's no dearest emergency, you just don't feel up to it.

The Borough has spent months willing with every force for the end of 2008, only to get to the start of 2009 to characterize oneself as at the edge of another precipice.

We're told the next 12 months will be worse than ever, with more dynamite-ups, bankruptcies and frauds. The decline will be the worst for a century, unemployment will shoot up, the FTSE will crash, and the entire nature of the global financial system will be scrapped because it doesn't m.

Budget curtains

Budget curtainsHi everyone!

I promissed earlier to predict the little funny budgetarian story about the curtains in my label new craftroom.

OK..........I wanted curtains immediately and since I had no possibilities to go to a value at that moment I asked my creative source to come up with an recommendation. I went browsing upstairs in my fabrics and such and then found an old Biggie Best duvet cover. Haha!!!! Yessssssssss the curtains you see are made of an old duvet cover! LOL LOL LOL! This duvet cover had a roses pull a proof pix at the front and a striped print on the backside. I used the backside to place these curtains and since the fabric wasn't enough I used a little troop of floral fabric, which is the same as the blinds to make it the right estimate. For now and the upcoming time these curtains will do. When we are completely settled in this brothel i'm planning to make new ones. But say it yourself.................isn't this a great abrupt solution? So go through your duvet covers yourself. Who knows what treasures you have in your stock!

Have a wonderful day!

What's the best way to clean my duvet cover?

Aug 28, 2007 by Cherona29 | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry

I after to clean my duvet cover but don't want the color to dull or for it to get those lint knobs. What's the best way & how often should I filter it?

Use ague water. Dry it in the dryer, but take it out as soon as it's done. The lint knobs are called "pilling" and they come off because of the fabric, not because of how you wash it. If you get a lot of pilling, you can truly shave it off with a razor -- kidding aside, I have done it. Just a regular razor, it doesn't have to be tense. No shaving cream required. :-)

MailorderMaven | Aug 28, 2007

turn around it inside out, and put it in the washer. simple as that!
cut it like every 2-3 weeks. put it on a quiet cycle to be safe.

What is the best way to change a super king size duvet cover?

Jan 04, 2007 by iiitttsssaaadoozy | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry

I have resorted to using 2 one duvets on our bed because I find it so hard to change the cover with this gigantic duvet. And the damn duvet is taking up a huge amount of lacuna.

I practically end up inside the duvet cover when I try to change it. There has to be an easier way.

I switch mine like this: Turn the duvet cover inside out and put your arms middle the open end until your hands are holding the top two ends at the corners. Then, collar the two ends of the duvet and give it a good shake. The duvet cover should start to cover the duvet. Proceed by pulling down the sides of the duvet cover down to the bottom and button or cheat the fasteners at the bottom. You will probably have to give it a few more shakes to get it to its right shape. I find that works fine for me

pianowez | Jan 04, 2007

you requisite 2 people
turn inside out
find corners
press on rest of quilt in
turn over & disconcert!!
gingertod | Jan 04, 2007

I be familiar with - It's like fighting a ferret privileged the cover - only I wont let it win!!
Thia | Jan 04, 2007

get the end of the duvet and find your corners.slowley employment the duvet corners into the far end of the cover.then pull the cover over the rest of the duvet.

You could try putting it on With the duvet reversed out .I've found that's the essayist when doing it alone.
sukito | Jan 04, 2007

I injury it mostly inside out and crunch it together, kind of like wadding up your sock before you put it over your foot. Then I join the first two corners onto the duvet with those clips to keep the cover in place, catch those two corners, stand on the bed and shake the whole element to get the cover to un crunch and cover the whole thing. Or you can hold it while a 2nd individual pulls the cover down.
rinkrat | Jan 04, 2007

I do specifically the same as 'pianowez', but as I am only mundane I stand on the end of the bed, to give myself more 'chucking around' stay.
emmarose | Jan 04, 2007

Ask your best friends soothe to help you. Both get undressed and hold a corner each of the duvet while you both creep inside the cover. You need to lay on your back whilst he is crawling over you. If you see anything stiff give it a gentle kiss and see what develops.
It doesn't always beget a perfectly neat and tidy bed, but who cares.
Satisfaction in!
dawleymouse | Jan 04, 2007

Accouter e come duvet cover inside out, then put hands inside up to top corners, get show of duvet and keeping hold of cover throw over duvet and pulsate holding duvet and cover till it falls down and spread on bed and methodical up.

The best way to iron a double duvet cover?

Sep 15, 2007 by christopherthomasandrews | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry

Any tips on ironing a duvet cover? I find that I am struggling with upstanding a standard iron and ironing eat, I run out of space or it just gets creased again!

I had the same unruly with curtains, bedding, etc. What I did was to buy a good trait steamer (cost about $100). I've never had that facer again - you can even steam them in place. Has the added advantage that we can steam shirts while hanging up too. (:

Good chances! (:

Hoosier Mom | Sep 15, 2007

Don't iron it!
need2know | Sep 15, 2007

Go under it in half........ iron one half, squeal on it over an iron the other half............ dont iron it to the close up.... just up to it........ that way no crease.........
janiesheron | Sep 15, 2007

I had the same emotionally upset with curtains, bedding, etc. What I did was to buy a good blue blood steamer (cost about $100). I've never had that dilemma again - you can even steam them in place. Has the added benefit that we can steam shirts while hanging up too. (:

Humane luck! (:

Ironing lodge or stick it in the dryer after spraying Downy ruse relaser on it .
sugarbrownsweetie | Sep 15, 2007

Put a tidy blanket, folded a couple of times, on the largest register you have and iron the duvet on the table.
saaanen | Sep 15, 2007

if you take it out of the dryer correctly away it should not be full of wrinkles and no ironing should be needed.

pick out one. thanks for your help!

I like the "Posey Pull a proof pix" and the "Spence". And either one, they are on sellathon!!!

sncmom2000 | Oct 23, 2006

You've chosen a irascible color for your walls and a cooler shadiness for your bed... I would suggest either a neutral color (like the "stone"), a shady grey that suits the tones of your colors or the "Jolie Fleur Style Duvet Cover & Sham" which has a nice mix of cools and neutrals together.

Opportune redecorating!

Best Fabric to Use for a Duvet Cover?

Jul 16, 2006 by slp2b | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

I poverty to make a king size duvet cover. Whenever I vestige into the fabric store and go to the home decorating/upholstery cross-section, I'm quite overwhelmed by the pick.

I am thinking of making one large rectangle in the center out of a suede papers, but I'm stumped about what I should put on the borders and on the vis- side (the side that will touch the flat sheet).

Buy two unique sheets - big enough to cover the duvet; sew as planned. This is economical & you can go mad the duvet so the other sheet shows if you get tired of one side or the other.

Undead Monkey, SOS | Jul 16, 2006

^^ Mine is cotton, but there are other materials...depending on where and which on you decide to buy...
Amoureux | Jul 16, 2006

egyptian cotton is precious but makes the best covering for a duvet
pisof49 | Jul 16, 2006

A crushed velvet would be awsome with suede, an awsome brochade would be delightful too.
just_ine_credible | Jul 16, 2006

Buy two conflicting sheets - big enough to cover the duvet; sew as planned. This is economical & you can go off the deep end the duvet so the other sheet shows if you get tired of one side or the other.

best way to wash a micro-suede duvet cover?

Aug 27, 2007 by ♥pokey♥ | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry

it doesnt have any stains or anything, justified need to wash it

being micro-suede, is there anything specific i should do? or just wash it as i would any blanket? thanks!

First, always research the label for care instructions and structure content. If it's polyester, then brumal water wash and tumble dry (low) will be reasonable fine; I have a throw that's polyester mocro-suede and it washes solely fine. However, if there's silk or rayon in the mixture, then you might have to have it dry-cleaned, or you can get one of those kits that dry-cleans in your dryer at on (I forget the name but they're in the laundry aisle at any retailer), and then do it that way.

what is the best technique to cover a duvet with a duvet cover?

Mar 29, 2006 by msmennis | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry

I always exert oneself with this one

Duvet cover innards everted out, arms all the way inside to the opposite corners, continue the duvet through the cover, lift and shake.

codrock | Mar 29, 2006

Over b delay two bottom corners of each and shake it on.
?master | Mar 29, 2006

make over the cover iniside out and then almost get inside it to grab the corner of the duvet then give it a big hold up - much easier this way!
Caz | Mar 29, 2006

Duvet cover at bottom out, arms all the way inside to the opposite corners, prolong a rob the duvet through the cover, lift and shake.
codrock | Mar 29, 2006

I take each corner of my duvet and gumption them into the top two corners of the cover..grab these and then hold the cover (and duvet corners) Give it a talented shake to get the duvet into the rest of the cover. Do it up and bobs ya uncle!
Expectation that makes sense :o)
Andy Pandy | Mar 29, 2006

Buy your duvet covers at Ikea: they have holes in the top corners so you can grasp the duvet and the whole thing is a doddle!
nelly hatpin | Mar 29, 2006

I put off the cover inside out and safety pin the duvet to the inside (put the pins on the exterior so you can take them off later) and work it through my turning the cover perfect side out. Works like a charm!
sparky39fire | Mar 29, 2006

Constantly the duvet cover inside out. Put both hands into the opening and take fend off of the 2 corners at the far end of the cover. Then pick up the duvet with one hand at each corner of the duvet (corresponding the position that you are holding on the duvet cover) and shake the duvet cover over the duvet. This will disposition the duvet cover back to its proper side.
gerkiely | Mar 29, 2006

get someone else to do it for you
mandie | Mar 29, 2006

rebuff it inside out, then match the bottom corners and apart it over while keeping a good hold on the corners.
redkat1224 | Mar 29, 2006

I'm with Sparky! I use hefty safety pins to anchor the center of the bottom and two corners then waver it from that end. Then I do the same at the other end so I can smooth out the ridges in the center of the duvet. Of surely, you can always attach velcro dots to the private of the cover and your duvet so it's ready to go each time you pure it.
